They are among the first and last flowers that you will find in the lawn. The low-growing perennial is so resistant that if you want to get rid of it, it is really difficult. “She likes our short mowed lawns,” gardener Vlastimil Šindelář says in the podcast.

“It’s a beautiful flower, one of my favourites,” says Vlastimil Šindelář, a gardener whose articles have been published for many years not only in the printed Recipe book, but in the podcast. But when someone sets his sights on, even just a small piece of garden, even such a beautiful poor thing can drive him almost to madness. It is extremely durable. But we humans, and gardeners in particular, are responsible for its expansion.
A tiny weed
Some people adore its tiny flowers, which are also edible and decorate, for example, a spring cake or a fruit salad. No one else can think of its name, because you can find it in almost every lawn. “Even fifty years ago, it was quite rare,” explains the expert. “She was called the poor woman, because she crouched somewhere on the edge of the meadow.”
On the hay
The reason is simple. At that time, the meadows were mainly cut for hay and there was no such thing as a lawn in front of the house. The grass was therefore allowed to grow long and mowed only once, at most twice a year. The long grasses, daisies and other flowers had a wonderful time here. But it’s an environment that doesn’t suit the daisy at all.
A little longer
You can use exactly this fact in your own garden. It’s quite simple. If you want to have only grass in your lawn and finally get rid of daisies and endless digging, simply do not let them grow.
“Just stop mowing the lawn every week and let it grow 10 to 15 centimeters each time,” says the expert. And poverty will quickly disappear on its own.
