Government of Acre ends historical injustice and guarantees rights to civil servants

Governo do Acre encerra injustiça histórica e garante direitos a servidores

The Government of Acre announced, this week, a historic decision that puts an end to more than a decade of stagnation in the careers of around 1,900 public servants. In response to a direct order from the governor and vice-governor, the State reversed the legal understanding that blocked the functional advancement of these professionals, now guaranteeing access to promotions and progressions.

The measure benefits employees who have faced legal uncertainty for years, prevented from progressing in their careers because they are considered to be in an irregular situation. With the new opinion issued by the State Attorney General’s Office (PGE), together with the Administration Secretariat (Sead), the length of service provided will once again be computed for the purposes of functional evolution.

End of Legal Insecurity

For Governor Gladson Cameli, the action is recognition of the service provided by these professionals, many of whom postponed retirement for fear of financial losses. “What we are doing is correcting a great injustice. I appreciate the technical team’s commitment to reducing differences and building a stronger and fairer State”, stated the manager.

Financial Impact and Benefited Categories

The promotions will be implemented in the April payroll, reaching both active and retired employees. The State’s investment in honoring these rights will be R$2.1 million per month.
