Israel says it has hit a key Iranian submarine development center in Isfahan

According to Jerusalem, the attack drastically limits Tehran’s ability to modernize its navy. The operation is part of a massive air campaign, during which Israel has already used more than 15,000 pieces of ammunition since the end of February.

The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it had struck a submarine development facility in the Iranian city of Isfahan. This city was the target of large-scale attacks on Tuesday, TASR writes, according to an AFP report.

  • The Israeli armed forces hit the underwater research center in Isfahan, Iran.
  • The Isfahan center was Iran’s only submarine development facility.
  • The facility also produced various types of unmanned naval vessels.
  • According to the Israeli military, the attack significantly limits Iran’s production capabilities.
  • Since the beginning of the war, Israel has used more than 15,000 pieces of ammunition in Iran.

The end of the development of new submarines?

“As part of the strikes, Israeli armed forces – guided by Israeli Navy intelligence – hit the Iranian Terrorist Regime’s Undersea Research Center in Isfahan,” the military said.

The affected center is the only facility in Iran responsible for the design and development of submarines and support systems for the Iranian navy, according to the military. The facility also produced various types of “unmanned vessels”.

The attack “significantly limits” Iran’s ability to produce new and advanced submarines for the navy, the military said, according to The Times of Israel (TOI) website.

Waves of attacks on Tehran

In addition, the military announced that it had completed several waves of airstrikes in Tehran. The targets of the attacks were infrastructure facilities of the Iranian regime.

Defense Minister of the Jewish State Yisrael Kac claims that the army has “exceeded the threshold of 15,000 spent pieces of ammunition” in Iran since the start of the war on February 28. This represents four times the amount during the 12-day Israel-Iran war in June 2025. At the same time, Kac said that Tel Aviv approved a new list of targets for attacks in Iran and Lebanon, Al Jazeera reports.
