Mangueira takes orixá Oyá to Sapucaí for Carnival 2027

No Carnival 2027on the eve of its centenary, the samba school Mangueira First Station will take a tribute to the orixá to Marquês de Sapucaí Oyáone of the most important female deities in Candomblé.

Lady of winds, storms, lightning and fire, she represents strength, courage and feminine power. The plot, called “Oyá Por Us”will be developed by the carnival artist Sidnei França, in his third parade at the school, in partnership with the entredistas Felipe Tinoco e Stephanie Paz.

“For the first time in its history, in an entirely Afro-religious narrative, Verde e Rosa will dedicate its entire procession to exalt an orixá,” said the association on social media.

“Let’s celebrate, celebrate and spread the bravery and determination of our people: from now on it’s all about her. It won’t happen anymore”, he added.
