Charging tolls for ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz “is extortion outside of international law”

Filipe Santos Costa, associate researcher at the National Defense Institute, explains that “there is no framework” for the Iranian intention to charge tolls on ships that intend to cross the Strait of Hormuz. Still, it can do this, as it has the capabilities to restrict traffic in the region.
