Erika Hilton and Duda Salabert appear in PE police suspect book

The federal deputy Doubt Salabert (PDT-MG) he reported on Tuesday (24) which appeared in a Pernambuco Civil Police suspect book photo of you and the federal deputy Erika Hilton (Psol-SP). The Minas Gerais parliamentarian reported the episode through a publication on her social networks.

“This is very serious! This is institutional racism and transphobia. I have already taken legal action. We will not accept that the identity of transvestites becomes a criterion of suspicion”, wrote Salabert.

By means of a letter, the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Pernambuco announced that, on April 8, 2025, a police investigation was established at the Police Station of the Second Circumscription of Boa Vista, in the capital Recife, to investigate a cell phone theft in the neighborhood. According to the agency, the procedure for photographic reconnaissance was carried out 40 days laterwith the presentation of six photos. Among the images were those of Erika and Duda.

“The only reason that can explain the inclusion of these photographs in the procedure is the fact that both parliamentarians are black and trans women — which unequivocally shows that the selection criteria adopted by the police authority was belonging to a gender and racial identity group, and not any individualized similarity to the physical description of the suspect provided by the victim”, said the Defender’s Office.

In a publication made on X (formerly Twitter), this Wednesday (25), Erika reported that “demanded answers” from the governor of Pernambuco, Raquel Lyra (PSD). “This is incompetence, discrimination and, yes, transphobia,” wrote the parliamentarian.

The federal deputy also said that “the irresponsible use of photographic recognition it needs to stop.” “This is putting innocent people in prison while the real criminals remain at large,” he declared.

Also this Wednesday, Raquel spoke by phone with Duda and Erika. The governor apologized to the deputies. Through a publication in X, the head of the Pernambuco Executive said that determined “rigorous investigation with the opening of a process in the Internal Affairs Department of the Secretariat of Social Defense”.
