The government’s deputy leader in the Chamber, Alencar Santana (PT-SP), harshly criticized the INSS CPMI report presented by rapporteur Alfredo Gaspar (PL-AL). In an interview with CNN Behind the Scenes This Friday (27), the deputy classified the accusation against Fabio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), as an unfounded “inlation”.
“The rapporteur insists on a political thesis. He made a fictitious thesis, making conclusions, connections, to try to justify the indictment he is asking for. Anyone who reads this topic realizes that it has no basis whatsoever,” said Santana. According to the deputy, even the president of CPMI, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), admitted, in an interview with the Roda Viva program, that there was no evidence that could justify Lulinha’s indictment.

The deputy leader of the government also criticized the fact that people linked to the previous government were not heard during the commission’s work. “He didn’t listen to these people from the Bolsonaro government. He cited statements that would indicate the start of the irregularities between 2019 and 2020. “This is all Bolsonaro’s government. Past statements, dozens of them, several people gave the date that something started in 2019 or 2020 or 2021”, he highlighted.
Santana also mentioned a document that, according to him, shows that the then minister did not take action. “If the Federal Police had been placed there to investigate, if the discounts had stopped at that moment, this theft would not have increased”, he argued.
The PT deputy highlighted that the Lula government has already returned resources to retirees affected by the fraud and is seeking legal recovery of the diverted money. He highlighted that the arrests related to the case are the result of investigations conducted by the PF (Federal Police), based on work initiated by the CGU (Comptroller General of the Union) of the current government.
