On Thursday, US President Donald Trump ordered a delay in attacks against Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure until April 6 at 8:00 p.m. EST (April 7 at 2:00 a.m. CEST). Until then, the head of the White House demands the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, informs TASR according to AP and Sky News reports. Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social, that negotiations to end the war in the Middle East are “continuing and … going very well.”
The US president first threatened attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure last Saturday if Iran did not restore safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours of his ultimatum. On Monday, he subsequently delayed the attacks by five days, saying that Washington and Tehran were leading “very good and productive talks” on ending the war. Tehran initially dismissed the claims as false.
Since then, both sides have presented different views on possible peace negotiations. The United States presented a 15-point peace proposal through Pakistan this week. Iranian media reported that Tehran responded by setting five conditions for an end to the fighting, including future security guarantees and reparations.
