American golfer Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence of substances following a car accident.

Woods was released last night after eight hours and after posting bail, as required by Florida law.

Tiger Woods was trying to overtake a truck at high speed when the car ended up overturning. Nobody was injured.

US authorities say the 50-year-old golfer showed signs of disorientation.

A history of accidents

This was the third time Woods had been . The most recent was in February 2021, when his SUV left a coastal road in Los Angeles at high speed and the golf star suffered multiple leg and ankle injuries.

At the time, the American golfer underwent “long” surgery due to injuries to his foot, ankle and tibia in his right leg.

In a statement after that surgery, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Chief Medical Officer and Interim Executive Director Anish Mahajan explained that Woods “suffered major orthopedic injuries that were treated during emergency surgery by orthopedic trauma specialists.”

In that accident, which occurred in February 2021, the Los Angeles County Sheriff said Tiger Woods, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, had to be extricated.

Woods later said doctors considered amputation.

The golfer was now trying to return to golf after his seventh back surgery last September, but had not yet decided whether he would be able to play in the April 9-12 Masters.
