“Abraji vehemently repudiates the threats of intimidation and physical and sexual violence against journalist Andréia Sadi, presenter at GloboNews, and her family members”, says the note.
Last week, Estúdio i, presented by Sadi, showed an infographic relating Vorcaro to figures such as the president (PT), the former Minister of Justice Ricardo Lewandowski, the president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo and the PT directory in Bahia.
The art also showed a connection with the presidents of the Chamber and Senate, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB) and Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP); with the former governor of São Paulo João Doria; the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes; senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI); the president of the Union, Antonio Rueda; and federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG).
The infographic was publicly criticized by left-wing cadres for highlighting Lula and the PT, leaving aside names such as the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), political guarantor of the frustrated attempt, and STF minister Dias Toffoli, who was Vorcaro’s financial operator.
Days later, Sadi read a note on air in which he apologized for presenting “wrong and incomplete” material and which did not make clear the criteria used in selecting the information. Since then, the presenter has been the target of attacks on the networks.
“Abraji’s mission is to protect freedom of the press and the free exercise of journalism, which follows clear precepts, including the publication of retractions. Criticism and disagreement are part of every democratic environment, but personal attacks and attempts to intimidate or silence journalists and their families are intolerable in a society that values democracy, in addition to crossing the barrier of legality.”
