Netanyahu announces an expansion of the “security zone” in Lebanon

Israel will occupy southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, applying the same destruction as in Gaza

The Israeli Prime Minister, , announced this Sunday an extension of the “safety zone” established by Israeli forces in Lebanese territory within the framework of the military offensive against the Hezbollah militia.

“In Lebanon I have now decided to further expand the existing security zone to definitively stop the risk of invasion and to distance our borders from gunshots and anti-aircraft weapons,” Netanyahu explained in a message published on social networks.

The Israeli authorities have openly declared their objective of penetrating to the Litani River, the natural border between the south of the country and the rest of the country, and this Saturday Hezbollah reported the presence of Israeli military personnel on the southern bank of the river, a point that, however, has not been confirmed by Israel.

In Lebanon “we have defeated the threat of the 150,000 missiles and rockets that were aimed at the people of Israel,” Netanyahu stressed, “but Hezbollah still has the military capacity to launch rockets at us.” “I have discussed with military commanders how to eliminate this threat as well“he explained.

Overall, Netanyahu stressed that Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas “are no longer terrorist forces that threaten our existence,” but are “hostile enemies fighting for their existence.” “Instead of threatening us, we threaten them,” he argued. “We are the active part, the aggressive part. We have the initiative and we are deep within their territory,” he claimed.

“We said we would change the face of the Middle East and we have done it. We have also changed the perception of security,” he stressed.

Thus, he has referred to other security zones, such as the one established in Syria, from Mount Hermon to Yarmouk, and the Yellow Line ceasefire in Gaza, where “more than half of the territory is occupied.”

Netanyahu ended his message by appealing to the resistance of the Israeli people and valuing their attitude. “I want to express my appreciation for all of you, who have been on the front for more than two years. We are determined. We are fighting. And with God’s help, we are winning,” he highlighted.
