On the anniversary of joining NATO, Raši sent a clear message: He considers this to be crucial

For a country the size of Slovakia, NATO means an important framework of security at a time of changing security challenges. On the occasion of Sunday’s 22nd anniversary of Slovakia’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance, the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Richard Raši (Hlas-SD), announced this on the social network.

He described NATO as one of the pillars that contributes to the protection of sovereignty and stability in the region. “At the same time, it allows us to develop Slovakia in peace and freedom,” pointed out the speaker of the parliament. It therefore perceives membership in NATO as a commitment to participate in common security and at the same time a space for cooperation between democratic countries.

“It is in our common interest to approach this partnership responsibly and with awareness of the importance of collective defense,” Rashi added. On March 29, 2004, the Slovak Republic became a member of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). Along with it, six other post-communist states joined NATO: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovenia.
