Star Luka Modric, from Croatia, went through an unusual situation in Orlando, in the United States. The city will host the event, this Tuesday (31st), at 9pm (Brasília time).
Not even the fact that he was the best player in the world after the 2018 World Cup, and , made Modric famous to everyone. The star was reportedly “ignored” by a taxi driver at an airport in Florida.
The case was told by national team defender Ivan Smolcic to Croatian reporters.
“When we arrived at Orlando airport, the driver told us that he had already taken two of our players before. We asked who, but he didn’t know and showed us the photo of Luka (Modric) and Caleta-Car,” he said.
“We asked again: ‘Have you already taken Luka?’, but he didn’t know his name, he just pointed to the photo once again. So, Baturina (the national team midfielder) and I asked: ‘Don’t you know Luka?’, and he replied: ‘I don’t know’. So, we told him: ‘You must be the first person in the world who doesn’t know Luka'”, joked the Croatian full-back.
“It’s a matter of general culture that you know who Modrić is,” added Baturina.
The friendly against Brazil will be Croatia’s second on North American soil on this FIFA Date. Last Thursday (26), Modric & Co.’s team beat Colombia 2-1, also in Orlando.
