The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, will be chosen this Monday by the PSD as a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. The party president, Gilberto Kassab, confirmed the definition to GLOBO. The announcement will be released in São Paulo.
In addition to Caiado, the party presented the name of the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, as a presidential option. The governor of Paraná, Ratinho Júnior, was also an option, but he gave up on being chosen in the week.
The assessment at the top of the party is that Caiado managed to position himself better nationally and that he was already second in line, after Ratinho.
Ratinho Júnior withdrew from the presidential candidacy after considering that his political future was threatened. After indicating that he would accept the candidacy, the governor retreated with an eye on the succession in command of his state.
