When explaining the reasons for the affiliation, Antônia Fontenelle criticized the political polarization in the country. “Our country can no longer bear living hostage to extremes”, he stated.

The actress also cited concerns about social issues. “It makes me sick to watch feminicide, children being raped, rampant corruption, injustice,” he declared.

Fontenelle stated that she received other invitations, but opted for the PSDB due to his political trajectory. “Among other invitations, I accepted to join the PSDB, protagonist of one of the most important moments in our history, under the leadership of Fernando Henrique Cardoso, always fighting evil in an elegant way”, he concluded.

In October, the Rio de Janeiro Court denied Antônia Fontenelle’s defense requests and ordered her to return to Brazil in up to 30 days to serve a sentence of community service. At that time, the actress lived in the United States.

In the video in which the affiliation is made official, the actress denied that she was on the run: “While the enemies were creating a false narrative that I was on the run from my country, I was learning how to pull the pin on the grenade without blowing up my own hand,” he said.
