USP Leste hosts the 14th Book Festival with discounts starting at 50%

The School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH-USP), in the east of the capital, will hold the 14th edition of the USP Leste Book Festival between the 7th and 9th of April.

The event, which takes place from 9:30 am to 9 pm, brings together 51 publishers with different profiles and guarantees the public a minimum discount of 50% on all titles sold.

Publishers present

The organization, made up of Edusp (Publisher of the University of São Paulo) and EACH itself, highlights the social role of the event by decentralizing it in a region far from large book shopping centers.

In this edition, 75 benches will house veteran and newcomer publishing houses, such as Editora UnB, Pallas, Darkside and Revista Cult.

The academic sector is also present with labels such as Editora, EdUFSCar and Edipro, in addition to Edusp itself.

Cultural programming

In addition to the fair, the public will be able to attend free debates and lectures. Among the highlights confirmed on the cultural agenda are:

  • 8 April (7pm): the table “Women artists in Brazil: illuminating works and trajectories”, with filmmaker Tata Amaral, art director Vera Hamburger and researcher Ana Paula Cavalcanti Simioni.
  • 9 April (7pm): meeting with the writer and immortal, Ignacio de Loyola Brandão.

The event is open to the public and has a food infrastructure consisting of a restaurant, snack bar and food trucks. Access is facilitated by the proximity to public transport, located next to the USP Leste station on CPTM Line 12–Safira.
