O Brazilian government appointed Guilherme Santos Mello in charge of board member of Petrobras PETR4.SA and requested that Mello’s nomination be considered for the presidency of the collegiate, the oil company announced on Monday night (6).
The appointment of the company’s controlling shareholder is aimed at calling the annual general meeting (AGM) for April 16th.
Currently, Mello is Secretary of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance, president of the board of directors of BNDES e PPSA board member.
He owns PhD in Economic Science from Unicamp, master’s degree in Political Economy from PUC-SP e degrees in Social Sciences and Economic Sciences. He is a licensed professor at the Unicamp Institute of Economics, where he works as coordinator of the postgraduate program in Economic Development.
“In accordance with Petrobras’ internal governance procedures and its Policy for Nominating Members of Senior Management, these nominations will be subject to analysis of the relevant legal, management and integrity requirements,” stated the company in the statement to the market.
The day before, Petrobras’ board of directors elected Marcelo Weick Pogliese as president of the board, to replace Bruno Moretti, who left the position last month to take over the Ministry of Planning and Budget.
Petrobras said that Pogliese will remain in office until a meeting called for April 16.
