The agricultural segment had the largest number of companies involved in judicial recovery processes in 2025, according to information released by Serasa Experian. The sector concentrated 30.1% (743) of CNPJs that sought judicial recovery.
Service providers, who were the leaders in 2024, closed 2025 with 30% (739). Next came commerce (21.7%; 535 CNPJs) and industry (18.2%; 449 CNPJs).
According to Serasa Experian, the distribution of orders reflects different challenges faced by sectors of the economy, influenced by factors such as credit cost, demand dynamics and companies’ debt structure.

“Agriculture operates under a set of climatic and biological risks such as drought, excess rain, frost, pests and diseases”, said the chief economist at Serasa Experian, Camila Abdelmalack, in a note.
“Added to this are commodity price shocks, dollarized inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides, exchange rate exposure and a longer harvest-off-season financial cycle, which amplifies revenue and cash volatility. In adverse scenarios, these factors compress margins and payment capacity throughout the entire chain, from producer to storage, logistics, agribusiness and trading companies, increasing the need for renegotiating liabilities and making judicial recovery an instrument to preserve operations and employment,” he added.
