Daniil Medvedev experienced one of the most difficult moments of his career at the Monte Carlo Masters, when he was completely dominated by Matteo Berrettini.
The former world number one lost for the first time by a double 6-0, in a match in which he never managed to find his rhythm. Frustrated with his performance, Medvedev ended up venting his anger by destroying his racket in the middle of the court.
The public’s reaction was not long in coming, with several fans offering the Russian tennis player “olés”, in a clear demonstration of the opponent’s dominance and the discomfort experienced by Medvedev.
The episode, rare in the player’s career, is generating great repercussion, not only because of the heavy result, but also because of the way he lost emotional control during the match.
