Pierpaolo Bottini gives a talk to Poder360 trainees

The lawyer, professor of criminal law at USP and columnist for this digital newspaper, 49 years old, gave a lecture this Wednesday (April 8, 2026) for journalists from the Poder360at the headquarters of this digital newspaper, in Brasília.

In his lecture, Bottini spoke about the role of the Judiciary, the dynamics between the Three Powers and the relationship between the defenses of public and private agents involved in cases of national scope.

Coordinator of the Press Freedom Observatory of the Federal Council of the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) since 2019, Bottini has already worked on cases of national scope, such as Mensalão and the Lava Jato operation.

Bottini is a professor at the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Forensic Medicine at the USP Law School, and author of the books “Money laundering” (with Gustavo Henrique Badaró, São Paulo, RT 2012), “Crimes of abstract danger and the precautionary principle in the risk society” (2nd edition, São Paulo, RT, 2008) and coordinated the works “Reform do Judiciary” ea “New execution of judicial titles”. He has a master’s and doctorate from USP.

TRAINING PROGRAM

The 2nd class of the Journalism Trainee Program at Poder360 began on January 12, in Brasília. The objective of the course is to train new talents and cultivate the practice of good professional journalism. The emphasis will be on the unique and synthetic style, the use of infographics and the impartiality that make this digital newspaper the absolute leader in coverage of power issues.

Fifteen professionals were selected to participate in the program, which lasts 3 months – from January to April 2026. In addition to the course, they will follow the daily work routine of journalists from the Newsroom. Poder360with whom they will learn in practice how to do good journalism in the country’s capital. The classes are coordinated by Vivaldo de Sousa, who worked in several media outlets, including as economics coordinator for the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. He is currently a journalism consultant and professor.

The program focuses on covering issues of public interest and journalistic relevance. In addition to putting trainees in touch with the basic concepts about the Three Powers, the course covers relevant topics such as economy, agribusiness, energy, infrastructure and health. The program includes lectures, training sessions, visits to companies and official bodies, trips and participation in the editorial team’s routine. Poder360.
