Drug dealer known as "Ketamine Queen" sentenced to 15 years in prison for Matthew Perry's death

Drug dealer Jasmine Sangha, 42, had pleaded guilty in August last year and was the fifth defendant to take responsibility in the case. Actor Matthew Perry, known for playing Chandler Bing in the series “Friends”, was found dead in his bathtub in October 2023.

In her guilty plea, the drug trafficker, who has dual nationality (American and British) admitted to having provided, together with Erik Fleming, 51 bottles of ketamine to Kenneth Iwamasapersonal assistant to Matthew Perry.

At the time, Jasmine Sangha was the fifth and final defendant to plead guilty to the death of the then 54-year-old American actor, who lI had been struggling with drug addiction for several years.

Prosecutors had requested this sentence due to the “generalized scope of the defendant’s illegality [e] to his callous response to the deaths he helped cause.”

“For years…Sangha operated a high-volume drug trafficking business from his North Hollywood residence. While [Sangha] worked to expand and profit from drug trafficking, he knew – and ignored – the serious damage his behavior was causing”, they claimed.

Jasmine Sangha, who could have been sentenced to up to 65 years in prisontold the judge during Wednesday’s hearing that he feels ashamed for his actions: “They weren’t mistakes. They were horrible decisions”he stated, recognizing that “They ruined people’s lives and the lives of their families and friends.”

The defendant’s attorneys argued that the time she has spent in prison since her arraignment in August 2024, combined with the good behavior and to absence of criminal recordshould be taken into consideration.

Five people were charged

Matthew Perry foi found dead in bathtub in October 2023 due to a ketamine overdosean anesthetic he used legally to treat depression. When the doctor refused to provide the quantity he wanted, he turned to other sources to obtain the drug.

Five people were accused in the case: doctors Salvador Plasencia e the actor’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasaan acquaintance, Erik Fleminge Jasmine Sangha.
