in the municipality of Albufeira, hosted last Easter Sunday, April 5th, the 22nd edition of the Prova do Folar, an initiative that once again brought together residents and visitors around a local tradition.
The central moment of the event was the sharing of a giant folar, weighing around 300 kilos, distributed among the participants.
The initiative also included a display of local crafts and regional sweets, highlighting traditional products from the region.
Tradition associated with the Easter season
The president of the Guia Parish Council, Dinis Nascimento, highlighted the symbolism of the initiative, saying that “the Prova do Folar is an initiative where we are committed to recreating a tradition in which the sharing of folar symbolizes the spirit associated with the time”.
The event also featured musical entertainment, provided by the group D’abalada and Duo 64, who accompanied the interaction between the participants.
The Prova do Folar is organized by the Guia Parish Council, with the support of the Albufeira City Council and local businesses.
