Socialist MEP explains that decision resulted “strictly from the lack of time” to perform executive functions within the party.
Francisco Assis announced this Thursday that he left the national secretariat of the Socialist Party due to “lack of time” to perform executive functions at the party level.
In a communication made on social media, o MEP explains that this decision was “considered” and taken a few weeks ago, this was communicated to José Luís Carneiro at the end of last week.
“This decision resulted strictly from the observation of a lack of time to carry out executive functions at the party level. I currently live between Brussels, Strasbourg and Amarante and there are many responsibilities that I have assumed in the EP”, the statement reads.
In the same publication, Francisco Assis leaves his wish for “greater successes” to José Luís Carneiro in the “difficult task he has to perform”, also ensuring that the PS leader will have “all the support and availability” of the MEP of the pink party.
