Fuel prices in Portugal are expected to fall next week, with simple diesel falling by around 5.5 cents per liter and 95 gasoline falling by three cents.
The forecasts were provided to the Lusa agency by the National Association of Fuel Dealers () and already include the value of VAT.
According to current data from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) and taking these forecasts into account, the average price of simple 95 gasoline should be 1,913 euros per liter from Monday, while simple diesel should be 2,090 euros per liter.
Even so, the final average will only be confirmed at the end of the day, and may change depending on the evolution of international oil prices, and the consumer price may vary between stations, brands and locations.
The drop from Monday comes after there was a new rise in prices at gas stations this week.
Increases in recent weeks are a reaction to the rise in the price of a barrel of oil
The increases seen in recent weeks are a reaction to the rise in the price of a barrel of oil, influenced by the war in Iran, triggered by attacks by the USA and Israel, and the consequent closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
North American President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he agreed to suspend bombings and attacks on Iran for two weeks, in a “bilateral ceasefire”, and after having received a “viable” peace proposal from Tehran.
On Wednesday, the price of a barrel of Brent, a reference for Europe, fell 13%, going from close to 110 dollars (around 94.16 euros) to less than 95 dollars. This morning it rose to 97.42 dollars.
