and , in the abominable figures of and , are transforming the world into an even more dangerous place to live. Yes, this is possible. The two have many things in common, none of them encouraging: they are authoritarian, expansionist, imperialist, racist (why not say so?) and they do not measure consequences in pursuit of their objectives.
They fit perfectly into the category of contemporary fascist leaders. “Ah, but this is not the same as what happened in the 30s”… Well, we are not in the 30s of the last century. We talk about the concept of the 21st century. It is hard and sad to say that a politician who commands Israel wears this fascist profile well, but unfortunately this is the case.
Trump entered the second conflict with the one attracted by his Israeli colleague. Apparently he went into an explosive chessboard thinking it would just be a game of checkers. Broke his face.
It is obvious that the USA has the military power – as the White House autocrat himself suggested – to destroy Iran and Persian civilization. But things are not like that. They are not enough. Americans have already been defeated in wars involving less powerful adversaries, such as Vietnam and Afghanistan. The Iranians defend themselves with the weapons they have, and among them there is no nuclear device. Cheap drones, missiles, and regional chaos are the arsenal used.
The war is, let me repeat, much more in Netanyahu’s interest than in the US’s. There is no threat from Iran to Americans. For Israel, it is a regional force that hinders the project, which appears to be its government’s grand plan, to expand borders and incorporate territories.
What is on the scene, it seems, is yet another escalation by Netanyahu in search of the expanded nation, Greater Israel. Or does anyone still believe in a two-state agenda, return of territories and other already buried fantasies? It is much more feasible to search for new annexations, Lebanon, Syria and so on.
A strong Iran is a major barrier to this goal, hence the need to weaken it, even using lies and unjustified aggression.
Yes, one should not forget the terrorist attack by Hamas, which has Iranian support, on October 7, 23. It is difficult, however, to use that date as a ground zero, despite the efforts of some. The conflict, we all know, has been going on for a long time. And the chances of it coming to fruition are zero.
The absolutely disproportionate reaction at this recent stage offers us a repulsive series of war crimes committed by Netanyahu and with the support of the extreme right in his country, in poorly disguised theocratic and genocidal delusions.
It is also possible to talk about war crimes by Trump, commander of forces that, for example, bombed a school in Iran, resulting in the horrific slaughter of children.
The USA and Israel’s adventure in Iran is irresponsible. A threat to the world, from economic to humanitarian aspects, not to mention geopolitical chaos and the loss of global negotiating capacity.
Perhaps what remains of American democracy will impose a brake on Trump, under penalty of electoral loss in the middle of the term and impeachment. To be seen.
