Israel summons the Spanish chargé d'affaires in Tel Aviv and criticizes Sánchez for the burning of an effigy of Netanyahu

. The Israeli Government announced this Saturday the summons of the chargé d’affaires of the Spanish Embassy in Tel Aviv, Francisca Pedrós Carretero, to express her discomfort over the burning of a seven-meter doll of the Israeli Prime Minister, in the town of El Burgo, in Malaga, on April 5.

“This regrettable display of anti-Semitic hatred is a direct consequence of the incitement of the Government of Pedro Sánchez“, indicated the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement published on social networks along with a video of the blowing up of the doll.

“Even now, the Spanish Government is silent. The Spanish chargé d’affaires has been summoned for a reprimand,” he added.

What happened in El Burgo is part of the tradition of the burning of Judas, for which every Easter Sunday an effigy of someone representing evil is burned at the election of the local council.
