Donald Trump launched new threats against Tehran. In an interview with the New York Post, he indicated that US warships are being re-armed to attack Iran if talks in Pakistan fail to reach an agreement.
“We’ll find out in about 24 hours. We’ll find out soon,” Trump said when asked if he believed the talks would be successful. “We are in a reorganization phase. We supply the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons that have ever been made — even better than what we used in the past and destroyed them with.”he said.
He immediately hastened to clarify: “But we are loading the ships. We load the ships with the best weapons ever built, even at a level higher than what we use to achieve total annihilation. And if we don’t come to an agreement, we will use them, and we will use them very effectively.”
The spikes for Iran
Iran is expected to be represented in the Pakistani capital by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who insisted in pre-war talks that Iran has the inalienable right to enrich uranium, as well as the speaker of Iran’s parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
“We’re dealing with people that we don’t know if they’re telling the truth or not,” Trump said, adding, “In front of us, they’re claiming that they’re destroying all the nuclear weapons, that they’ve eliminated them all. And then they go to the press and say: “No, we want to proceed with enrichment”. So we’ll find out.”
