Iran says it has no trust in the US after failed peace talks

The President of Iran’s Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibafstated this Sunday (April 12, 2026) that the United States was unable to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation during the Pakistani capital. Talks between the 2 countries lasted 21 hours.

Ghalibaf stated that the Iranian delegation presented proposals during the meeting. “Before the negotiations, I emphasized that we have the necessary goodwill and will, but due to the experiences of the two previous wars, we do not have confidence in the opposing side”he stated in a post on the social network X.

“The US has understood Iran’s logic and principles and now is the time to decide whether or not it can earn our trust”continued the president of the Iranian Parliament.

The meeting ended without progress in building mutual trust. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told Iranian state TV that there had been “difference of opinions on two or three important questions”.

The , left the negotiations before conclusion. Now the president Donald Trump (Republican Party) commented on the result later, in Washington.

According to Vance, the early exit was carried out after Iran’s refusal to accept definitive terms regarding the non-development of nuclear weapons. The issue remains the main point of impasse in negotiations.

Trump downplayed the outcome of the talks. The Republican told journalists that “it doesn’t make any difference” reaching a consensus at this time and indicated that the United States remains focused on opening the Strait of Hormuz and gaining a military advantage in the conflict.
