Pakistan says US-Iran peace talks ‘moving in the right direction’

Mediated by Beirut, authorities from Washington and Tehran met this Saturday (11) to begin ceasefire negotiations

A Pakistani source involved in the peace negotiations between the United States and Iran said this Saturday (11) that the “negotiations are moving in the right direction”. US and Iranian authorities are in Islamabad looking for a lasting truce between Washington and Tehran.

According to Iranian state television, two rounds of negotiations have already been held. A third is scheduled for Sunday (12). The White House limited itself to saying that the Dialogues are “ongoing”.

On the United States side, the delegation is led by Vice President JD Vance. Alongside him are special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On the Iranian side, the team is made up of the President of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi.

After negotiations began in Pakistan, the President of the United States, Donald Trumptold journalists that “whatever” the outcome of the negotiations. “Whether we reach an agreement or not, it doesn’t matter to me. The reason is that we won,” said the Republican.

Israel proclaims victory

In a televised speech this Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that . The prime minister stated that the war against the Persian country also weakened the regime and its regional allies.

“We have reached a situation in which Iran has already does not have a single enrichment facility in operation”, he declared.

Netanyahu said the United States and Israel prevented Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb by launching an attack in June 2025, followed by the current campaign, which began on February 28.

As for Lebanon, Netanyahu said the country approached Israel with a potential peace agreement proposal. “I gave my approvalbut with two conditions: We want the disarmament of Hezbollah and we want a real peace agreement that will last for generations”, he reported.

More than 2 thousand dead in Lebanon

Since the two-week ceasefire came into force on Wednesday (8), Israel claims Lebanon is not included in the truce. This Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Israeli army announced that it had attacked, in the last 24 hours, more than 200 Hezbollah targets. On Wednesday, the country carried out the deadliest attacks of this war, with at least 357 deaths in a single day, according to the latest report.

Lebanese authorities reported that, since March 2, they have been 2,020 deaths and 6,436 injured were recorded.

According to the Lebanese presidency, which Hezbollah does not view favorably.

Netanyahu said that Beirut sought Tel-Aviv with a potential peace proposal. He said he “gave his approval” but under two conditions: disarmament of Hezbollah and adoption of a lasting agreement.
