RJ police seize anabolic steroids and weight-loss pens on buses

DRCPIM (Department for the Repression of Crimes Against Immaterial Property) and Ssinte (Subsecretariat of Intelligence of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro) a bus carrying anabolic steroids, bottles containing the substance tirzepatide, weight-loss pens and a large quantity of electronics in Xerém, Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense.

The operation took place in the early hours of this Monday (April 13, 2026). The vehicle came from Paraguay and was under monitoring on suspicion of transporting illegal material. The products were not accompanied by authorization from the (National Health Surveillance Agency).

According to the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro, a couple who were transporting a significant amount of illicit material were arrested red-handed.

There were 42 people on board the bus at the time of the approach. They were all taken to the Police City, in the North Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

ANVISA AND PENS

In January, Anvisa the sale of tirzepatide-based slimming pens from the Synedica and TG brands, and retatrutida, of all brands and batches. These products are popularly known as “Paraguayan weight loss pens”.

Since June last year, medical prescriptions have been required to purchase weight-loss substances in Brazil.
