The rapporteur of the (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) on Organized Crime, and of the (Supreme Federal Court), responded to criticism from court members and said that the demonstrations represent threats and attempts to embarrass.
“The people sitting on the Supreme Court do not own the country. […] I do not bow to the threat. I wouldn’t bow down as a citizen, I wouldn’t bow down as a delegate, I won’t bow down as a senator of the Republic”, he said this Tuesday (14).
Vieira asked, in the CPI’s final report, for the ministers to be indicted, for their involvement in the case and for shielding investigations against their peers.

“Ministers confuse the institution with the human figure itself and place themselves in a condition where they are not susceptible to error. This does not correspond to reality. They can make mistakes, and soon we will have the maturity to make these investigations”, Vieira declared to the press after being defeated.

“The Electoral Court will not fail to punish those who abuse their power to obtain votes through electoral proselytism,” he said.
Vieira responded to the ministers during the CPI session and in a press interview.
“Minister Gilmar and more vocally Minister Toffoli directly verbalized the threat of revocation, prosecution, etc., because of what we are doing here. And then I wonder what democracy this group defends, because the defense of democracy has already served as a screen for a lot of scoundrels”, said the rapporteur.
The parliamentarian also stated that the ministers “got used to crossing the street, interfering in this House, interfering in the neighboring House, making demonstrations that are clearly political in nature and also, unfortunately, more recently, using threats as an expedient”.
“Why should there be a category in Brazil that cannot be admonished, that cannot be questioned in a technical and respectful way? There is no word of offense or aggression here, neither to the members of the Supreme Court, nor to their families, much less to the institution; but, again, they renew the same strategy. […] We need to confront abuse, this tyranny, within democratic limits,” he said.
Regarding Gilmar having suggested that Vieira committed abuse of authority and should be prosecuted, the senator stated that the minister reiterated his modus operandi “which mixes politicization of technical decisions and the use of constant threats, through violent demonstrations, using press vehicles or social networks”.
He also stated that this is not an isolated action by Gilmar, but a “systemic, structured, organized action to shield members of the court”.
After the session, Vieira criticized and said that the investigations against the Supreme Court are part of an agenda “that can be postponed, but not avoided”. He also said that, at some point, “Brazil will have the institutional maturity” for this.
