Former governor of Goiás and pre-candidate for President spoke about a possible lack of support for the party
The presidential pre-candidate for , , said there was no division in the party after the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, (PSD), declared that support for his candidacy did not represent a “automatic alignment”. He spoke about the possible lack of support in the acronym to journalist Karen Lemos, during an event in São Paulo, on Tuesday (April 14, 2026).
Caiado, , classified Leite’s statement as a form “different” to consider political issues.
The 2 governors, alongside the head of the Executive of Paraná, were responsible for the internal choice of the PSD for the dispute over the Planalto.
The man from Paraná was the favorite and had already been chosen internally to be the party’s name in the presidential race. On March 23, however, he decided to complete his term in local government.
The dispute was between Caiado and Leite. The Goiano was chosen by the legend. After the announcement, Leite published a video saying that he respected the trajectory of his supporter, . According to him, his name would be the only one in the party capable of breaking the polarization.
On April 9, Leite a Caiado saying he wanted to focus on “so many convergences”but mentioned Caiado’s intention to concede as a point of divergence between the 2.
Despite the gesture, the gaucho again said that he disagrees with the PSDB’s decision.
