The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, stated this Tuesday (14) that he will continue to fight for the “great deal” that, according to him, President Donald Trump wants to sign with Iran.
Vance — who led negotiations with the Iranians in Pakistan over the weekend and is expected to lead a possible second round of talks if one takes place — said he believed the interlocutors on the other side of the table in Islamabad “wanted to make a deal,” despite decades of “mistrust” between the U.S. and Iran.
“I feel really good about where we are,” he said at a Turning Point USA event in Athens, Georgia.
Vance praised Trump’s ambitions for a deal. “He doesn’t want to make a small deal. He wants to make the big deal,” said the vice president.
“The reason the deal hasn’t been reached yet is because the president really wants a deal where Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon, Iran doesn’t sponsor state terrorism, but also where the Iranian people can thrive, prosper and integrate into the global economy. And that’s the proposal he’s offering,” Vance added.
“We will continue negotiating and try to make this happen,” he said. “So I’m going to keep fighting to make that happen.”
Earlier, President Donald Trump signaled that negotiations to end the war against Iran Pakistan over the next two days, after the breakdown of late-week talks led the United States to impose a blockade on Iranian ports.
What is happening in the Strait of Hormuz?
Since the start of the US and Israeli war against Iran on February 28, Tehran has restricted passage for almost all vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, saying navigation would only be permitted under Iranian control and upon payment of a fee.
And via marítimathrough which almost a fifth of the world’s oil and gas passes.
After the failure of the negotiation attempt, with the aim of ending the war between the USA and Iran, President Donald Trump announced that American forces including the Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran threatened to target warships crossing the strait and retaliate against the ports of its Gulf neighbors following the American blockade announcement.
About that, with the US-Israeli bombing campaign against Tehran suspended.
