The senator (-RJ), pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the minister is trying to unbalance this year’s electoral dispute with his actions at the (Supreme Federal Court).
The speech, which repeats an accusation made by his father, (PL), in the 2022 elections, refers to the fact of investigating the senator on suspicion of slander against the president (PT), Flávio’s main opponent in the October election.
“It is very clear what the strategy is. Since now Alexandre de Moraes is no longer in [Tribunal Superior Eleitoral]he will want to unbalance the STF elections. […] This practice cannot be accepted in other elections, now in 2026”, said Flávio.
Flávio and other supporters of the former president complain about Moraes’ performance at the head of the TSE in the 2022 elections — for them, the minister’s decisions favored Lula’s victory and undermined the impartiality of the dispute.
The senator also said that Moraes will use the Fake News investigation during the elections, targeting right-wing political opponents.
“We have seen this film before. Authorization was given to Minister Alexandre de Moraes to commit a series of atrocities […]. Under the pretext of defending democracy, he trampled on several rights and individual guarantees of right-wing parliamentarians”, said Flávio.
Finally, Flávio said that there is an imbalance between the Powers and that he can only rebalance them.
Before Flávio, the senator (MDB-SE) also criticized the Supreme Court during the plenary session. The Federal Police stated that Flávio falsely attributed these crimes to Lula and asked Moraes to open an investigation for slander. The PGR spoke in the case and agreed, saying it saw evidence that the senator had committed the crime.
