Vienna – The mathematician Karl Sigmund remains a member of the learned society after an investigation in connection with contacts with the US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein by an ethics committee of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). The ÖAW announced this on Friday evening. The ÖAW Executive Board will follow the committee’s recommendation and express “disapproval” of Sigmund’s meetings with Epstein.
