Finance Minister Dario Durigan said this Friday that the investigation opened by the United States to analyze Brazil’s commercial practices based on Section 301 of the North American trade law, “cannot serve as a theater” to validate the imposition of tariffs.
In a press interview in Washington, Durigan stated that he hopes that all points raised by the government of the North American country and responded to by Brazil will be duly considered.
In July last year, the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) opened an investigation into Brazil’s commercial practices under Section 301 of the US Trade Law, citing topics such as Pix, illegal deforestation, insufficient protection of intellectual property and Supreme Court decisions involving big tech.
