Homemade potato fertilizer for geraniums
Preparing it from potatoes is simple and cheap, because we actually use leftovers. Put the potato in a blender, add 1 liter of water and mix thoroughly. Then strain the combined ingredients through a strainer – we will only use the liquid to fertilize the geraniums. Water the plants with this fertilizer once a month. Potato fertilizer will provide them with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which are needed for healthy growth and flowering.

Here are some of the most important rules for caring for geraniums so that they can bloom beautifully:
- Pruning: Remove all dry, damaged and diseased shoots. Shorten the remaining shoots by about 1/3 of their length, just above the node (where the leaf grows). Pruning stimulates the plant to grow new shoots, which will produce flowers.
- Exaggeration: Geraniums should be transplanted into fresh, fertile soil. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
- Fertilization: After transplanting, geraniums need proper fertilization. Use fertilizers intended for geraniums, rich in potassium and phosphorus, which support flowering. Start fertilizing about 2 weeks after transplanting and continue regularly, according to the fertilizer manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Watering: Water geraniums regularly but moderately. Avoid watering after the leaves to prevent the development of fungal diseases. On hot days, water geraniums more often, preferably in the morning or evening.
- Position: Geraniums like sunny and warm positions. Place them on the balcony or terrace where they will have access to at least 6 hours of sun a day.
