Bucharest – Gheorghe Hagi returns to the coaching bench of Romania’s national football team. The 61-year-old succeeds the late Mircea Lucescu and is his country’s team boss for the second time. At the beginning of his coaching career, Hagi played four games as Romanian team coach between September and November 2001 before his rapid resignation. The 124-time team player signed a contract valid until the end of qualifying for the 2030 World Cup.
