In an ironic tone, Lula suggests giving the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump so there will be no more wars

President Lula (PT) resorted to irony this Tuesday (21) to once again criticize the wars in the world by defending that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, receive the Nobel Peace Prize as a way of put an end to conflicts around the world.

“I don’t know if it’s a joke or not, President Trump says that he has already ended eight wars and that he has not yet won the Nobel Peace Prize. So it is important that we give President Trump a Nobel Prize soon so that there will be no more war. Then the world will live in peaceful peace”, said Lula in Lisbon, during a statement to the press alongside the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro.

Last year, after the Nobel committee decided to award the Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, Trump sent a message to the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Stoere, in which he stated that, as he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, he no longer felt obliged to think only about peace.

“Dear Jonas: Considering that your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for having prevented more than eight wars, I no longer feel obliged to think only about peace, although it will always be predominant, but now I can think about what is good and appropriate for the United States of America”, stated the message, released by the government of Norway.

In his speech in Lisbon, Lula also criticized the European Parliament for challenge in court the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Unionarguing that the agricultural sectors of the two blocks are complementary e non-competitors.

“This agreement begins to operate on May 1st, provisionally, because the European Parliament filed an appeal with the European Union Justice to try to avoid, which I think is a mistake, a very big mistake on the part of the European Parliament,” said Lula.
