CCJ remarks Sabbath of Jorge Messias for April 29

Session had been brought forward to April 28; Attorney General of the Union was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Barroso

The session to discuss Messias was initially scheduled for the 29th. However, at the request of the rapporteur for Messias’ nomination in the Senate, the senator (PDT-MA), it was brought forward to April 28th due to the risk of a lack of quorum during the week of the May 1st holiday.

Nominated for a seat in the STF by the president (PT), Messias received 13 votes in favor and 8 against his nomination in the Senate’s CCJ. to reach the majority needed to be approved by the board.

If approved by the CCJ after the hearing, Messias will then have his nomination voted on by the Senate plenary on the same day.

The Senate considers the nomination in a secret vote. For the nomination to be approved, the approval of an absolute majority of congressmen is necessary – at least 41 votes.

Upon approval of Messiah’s name also in the Senate plenary, the president of the House forwards the result of the deliberation to President Lula, who publishes the decree in the Official Gazette of the Union to make possession possible. The STF then marks the inauguration, which is held in a ceremony in the Court’s plenary.
