Collision between two trains in Denmark
At least four seriously injured. All passengers removed from trains. Accident occurred near the capital Copenhagen.
Serious railway accident in Denmark, this Thursday. Two trains collided head-on on the Gribskov line in northern Zealand.
At least four people have serious injuries, with a total of 17 injured. So far there is no indication of any fatalities.
Chief physician Anders Damm-Hejmdal of the Capital Region emergency response department revealed the number of injuries at a conference – which could still be changed, he admitted.
Morten Pedersen of the New Zealand Police said they were 38 people on board of the two trains.
The trains continued on their respective tracks despite the violent collision.
The first reports of the accident came shortly before midnight. 6:30 am on Thursday, according to the newspaper.
All passengers were withdrawn of the accident site. Passengers who did not suffer physical injuries were taken to a meeting point.
The accident occurred on the Gribskovbanen section immediately north of Isterødvejen, north of Hillerød. It is just over 30 km from the capital Copenhagen.
“Two local trains collided head-on. Several rescue teams were sent to the scene of the accident. There are reports that all passengers have disembarked from the trains and that there are injuries”, announced the Capital Emergency Services.
Researchers are still ascertain as causes of the collision.
