The end of April and the first days of May will not bring any surprises. They will continue the trend of changeable spring weatherwhich we have already managed to get used to in our regions. However, according to the portal’s predictions, a significant change is coming in the near future. The outlook for the next month suggests that the weather will intensify, and after a period of instability, the long-awaited heavier rainfall will arrive.
The current atmospheric circulation is conditioned by the so-called blocking. A massive high pressure center centered between Western Europe and the Atlantic hinders the advance of warmer air, while central Europe remains at its leading edge. In practice, this brings a constant influx of colder and wetter air mass from the north. This is accompanied by frequent transitions of local precipitation fields, which, however, are of a weaker nature.
Meteorological models indicate that this trend will continue and significant, intense downpours are not expected in our region until at least the beginning of May. This type of weather will last at least until the holiday. On May 1st, we have to count on alternating sunny moments with sudden cloud cover and frequent local showers.
A more significant break in the forecasts appears in the period between May 4 and 11. Then the anticyclone should definitively lose its compactness and retreat deeper over the ocean. This shift would opened the way for the Atlantic flow towards the interior of the continent, which will bring changeable weather with above-average precipitation to our area.
According to the forecast, it would this May week may have eased the lingering drought and returned moisture conditions to long-term normals. European numerical models are already signaling an increase in humidity in Spain, France and gradually during this period also in the wider area of the Western Mediterranean and Central Europe.

The spring in 2026 shows itself in all its inscrutable beauty without the permanent dominance of high air pressure, but with frequent reversals and dynamic changes.
