The state deputy presented a bill that creates a support and service network for domestic workers and day laborers at Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo).
The project has been called “PL”, after discussion about the amounts she would receive for the work. The 5-year-old daughter witnessed her mother being approached and handcuffed.
The text foresees that the state government creates service points to help workers collect their rights and refer them to social assistance, legal and health care.
“We will have an exclusive WhatsApp number to receive complaints and requests for help and information,” said the deputy, who was previously a domestic worker.
“Our mandate has become a reference for many workers who cannot find another place to seek help when they need to understand their rights in a more technical way, or when they need to make a complaint or seek help to have their rights fulfilled”, he adds.
