Two weeks and the “bald spots” on the lawn will disappear. Crumble finely and scatter on the grass
One of the most common sights in our garden after winter are “bald spots” on the lawn. This definitely ruins the look of the turf in our yard. And yet, probably everyone wants their lawn to look like those seen in gardening magazines and be the envy of their neighbors. No wonder we wonder how to take care of the lawn so that it becomes green and thick and disappears? In addition to basic activities such as watering and mowing, regular fertilization is very important in spring. after winter rest, strengthen the blades and stimulate them to grow. After all, yellow, dry blades of grass do not look nice and everyone wants to get rid of them as soon as possible. For this purpose, it is worth using a simple and thickening lawn fertilizer that you can prepare yourself. Just use wood ash for this. Crumble it into a fine dust and spread it evenly on the lawn, focusing on the gaps, and in two weeks these “bald patches” will disappear.
Homemade thickening lawn fertilizer. How to use wood ash?
The one made from wood ash is easy to prepare and use. First, grind the wood ash into a fine powder. Then sprinkle it evenly on the lawn, at an amount of about 1-2 kg per 100 m². You can use a fertilizer seeder for this purpose. After scattering the wood ash, water the lawn thoroughly so that the minerals can penetrate the soil. Use only wood ash from pure wood, without the addition of paints, varnishes and impregnations. Avoid coal ash, briquettes and other fuel materials. Additionally, before using wood ash as lawn fertilizer, check the soil pH using a soil acid meter. If the pH is above 7, do not use wood ash, as it will further acidify the soil.
How does wood ash affect grass?
Homemade wood ash will thicken it perfectly because it is rich in nutrients useful for lawn care. However, as with any fertilizer, the key to success is moderation and proper use. Wood ash contains mainly potassium, phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, i.e. macroelements necessary for the proper growth and development of grass. Additionally, it improves the soil structure, making it more permeable and aerated.
