Trump says he evacuated the event a ‘little slower’ because he wanted to understand the situation

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, gave an interview to the program ’60 Minutes’ on the North American network CBS and said that, when the shooting attack took place during the dinner for White House correspondents on Saturday (25), he did not understand the movement and, therefore, left the evacuation process “a little slower” for Secret Service agents.

The CBS interviewer asked Trump how it all happened at the time of the evacuation of the dinner and Trump said that, after the bangs, they understood that there was a problem.

“That’s when we started to realize that maybe it was something bad, different from the noises you normally hear in a hall. I was surrounded by competent people and I probably made him (Secret Service) act a little slower, I said: ‘wait a minute, let me see what’s going on’. Then, when we walked away, they asked ‘please get down to the ground’ so I got down and so did the First Lady (Melania Trump)“, he added.

When asked about the manifesto written by the suspect Trump became uncomfortable after the interviewer read the passage that said: “I am no longer willing to allow a pedophile, rapist and traitor to stain my hands with his crimes.”

The president said that he read the manifesto of this “sick person” and that she should be “ashamed for reading this”. The interviewer then asks if Trump believes the suspect was referring to him in what he wrote and the American leader interrupts her. “Excuse me. I’m not a pedophile. You read this sick person crap. They associated me with things that have nothing to do with me. I was completely cleared. His friends on the other side of the field were the ones who were involved with, say, Epstein or other things,” Trump said.
