Do not take THIS symptom on the tongue lightly: Doctor Andrej warns when it is a sign of cancer!

An inconspicuous symptom on the tongue that many people overlook can be an early signal of a serious oncological disease. Dr. Andrej Božić pointed out that in some cases it can indicate cancer of the oral cavity or other health problems. The expert explained when it is necessary to seek the help of a doctor.

  • The tongue often reflects your health condition even before other symptoms.
  • A persistent ulcer on the tongue may signal oral cancer.
  • You should also undergo an examination if you have long-term difficulties with swallowing or tongue mobility.

Doctor Božić, an oral surgeon from the Croatian Dentum clinic, emphasized what symptoms to look out for. “One of the most important symptoms is an ulcer or painful spot on the tongue that does not heal within two to three weeks. Most patients consider it a minor thing, such as a tongue bite or food irritation. However, if the difficulties persist, you should be examined“, he stated.

The dentist added that another warning sign can be red or white spots that are painful. “These symptoms do not automatically mean cancer, but they can indicate that something is wrong,” he said.

According to Dr. Božić, language often provides an accurate picture of what is happening in the body. Because unusual changes can appear even before other symptoms develop. “That’s why dentists are often among the first to notice potential problems. In the case of oral cancer, early detection is extremely important, as it greatly improves the success of treatment“, he stated.

Finally, Dr. Božić recommended paying attention to difficulties with swallowing or limited mobility of the tongue. “Many times patients ignore changes in the oral cavity because they think it’s a minor problem. But recognition and early response can be of fundamental importance“, he concluded.
