Estrela da Amadora announces termination of contract with coach João Nuno

Estrela da Amadora announced that it had reached an agreement, this Tuesday, for the termination of the contract “with immediate effect” with coach João Nuno, who leaves command of the team that occupies 15th place in the I Football League.

“Estrela da Amadora informs that it has reached an agreement for the termination, with immediate effect, with the following members of the technical team: João Nuno, Gonçalo Lopes, Pedro Veiga, Diogo Ramos, João Pedro, Gonçalo Ascensão and Jorge Garcia”, in a statement published on its official website.

In the same text, Estrela da Amadora thanks João Nuno and his technical team for “the professionalism, dedication and contribution demonstrated during the period in which they were at the institution’s service” and “wishes the greatest personal and professional happiness for the future”.

João Nuno arrived from Belenenseswho plays in Liga 3, to replace José Faria at the end of September, now leaving Estrela da Amadora in 15th place in the I Liga, with 28 points – precisely the position in which the team finished the competition in the previous season, then with one point more.

In the technical command of Estrela da Amadora, the coach completed a total of 25 matches – 24 for the Portuguese First Football League and a qualifier for the Taça de Portugal -, in which they achieved five wins, six draws and 14 defeats, leaving the technical command open with three rounds to go before the end of the championship, in which the ‘tricolor’ emblem still seeks to guarantee its permanence in the highest echelon of Portuguese football.

Estrela is just two points above the maintenance play-off position, 16th place, which is occupied by Casa Pia, and in the next round they go to Moreirense, before hosting Famalicão and ending the championship at home to Sporting de Braga.
