You could get lost in the countless threads, patterns and fabrics that Anni Albers created from the 1920s onwards. Which she wove from unusual materials such as jute, straw or cellophane. And for which the artist, who was born in Berlin in 1899, was inspired by pre-Columbian textile art. She traveled several times with her husband, the painter Josef Albers, to Mexico, Peru and Chile. The engagement with those advanced cultures in which textiles served as a means of meaning had a lasting impact on her work.
