Fies 2026: registrations for remaining vacancies end this Wednesday

Program grants financing to undergraduate students at private higher education institutions

The Ministry of Education (MEC) program was created to help students pursue higher education in private institutions participating in Fies.

As free registration for the remaining vacancies in the Student Financing Fund (Fies) for the first semester of 2026 end at 11:59 pm (Brasília time) this Wednesday (29). The period for interested parties to register began on the 22nd.

Those interested in participating in the selection process must register, exclusively online, through the program page, available on the Single Access to Higher Education Portal, in the Fies tab. You must log in to the Gov.br portal.

The Ministry of Education (MEC) program was created to help students to pursue higher education in private institutions participating in Fies. These courses must necessarily have a positive evaluation in the National Higher Education Assessment System (Sinaes).

Who can register

According to the notice with which selection process rules candidates who cumulatively meet the following requirements may apply:

. participation in one of the editions of the National High School Exam (Enem), from 2010 onwards;

. arithmetic average of grades in the five Enem tests equal to or greater than 450 points;

. score in the Enem essay above zero;

. conditions to reach the minimum frequency required (70%) for the first semester of 2026 in the chosen course.

. gross monthly family income per person of up to three minimum wages (R$4,863, in 2026);

The MEC explains that the calculation of gross monthly family income per person is based on the sum of the gross income of all members of the family group, divided by the total number of people belonging to that family group.

Results

After the registration period, the MEC publishes the results and classification of candidates. The result of the single call from the Student Financing Fund (Fies) for the first semester of 2026 will be released on May 7th.

If pre-selected in the single call, the registrant must complete their registration on the Fies page.

Then, between May 8th and 11th, the candidate must validate the information declared in the registration directly at the private higher education institution, through the institution’s Permanent Supervision and Monitoring Committee.

After that, the information will be validated in the bank. The deadline for this last validation is up to ten days, counting from the third business day, immediately after the date of validation of the registration by CPSA, carried out at the educational institution for which the student was pre-selected.

Waiting list

Anyone who is not pre-selected in the single call will be automatically included on the waiting list, which The call will take place from May 15th to 29th.

Fies carries out two regular selection processes annually, one for the first semester and another for the second semester of each academic year, in addition to selection processes for remaining vacancies.
