Itaú decides to end Itaucard and absorb R$52 million

The bank will incorporate its unit responsible for credit cards; there will be no changes for customers

The extraordinary general meeting approved on Tuesday (April 28, 2026), the incorporation of Itaucard. The proposal received majority approval from shareholders, who represent 92% of the company’s common shares.

After incorporation, Itaucard ceases to exist, but there will be no change for customers. Its assets of R$51.9 million will be absorbed by the

Itaucard is responsible for the financial institution’s credit cards and managed risks, loyalty programs and issuing invoices. Most of these activities had already been passed on to Itaú since 2022.

Newer cards, such as Itaú Click, and the application already used the Itaú name.

The unit issues its own cards and for other brands, such as Magazine Luiza, Ipiranga, Azul Linhas Aéreas, Latam Pass and Samsung.

Itaú’s objective is for the conglomerate to simplify its structure.

As Itaucard is a wholly owned subsidiary of the group, the incorporation does not require a capital increase or the issuance of new shares. According to the institution, the “measure is part of the strategy to rationalize structures and search for operational synergies”.
